Allegheny County 1/28 and 1/29

Al's Cafe, Bethel Park, 1/28: What is mulligatawny?

The waitress told me it was Irish. The Internet does not seem to concur: "The soup is an Anglo-Indian concoction of curry, rice, apples, and chicken. It's also rich and creamy, 'cuz ya add heavy cream to the broth." Apples in soup is certainly different, but in a good way.

Half Price Books, McKnight Road, 1/29: I find it difficult to believe that this genre requires an entire shelf.

Even Kramer knew that mulligatawny is Indian! That waitress should go back and watch the Soup Nazi episode to learn a little. Although I'm guessing she'd identify better with Sheila, the Schmoopy girl.
